Sister Angelica, once a Florentine noblewoman, lives in a secluded convent, banished there as punishment for a youthful indiscretion. One day a grand carriage arrives at the convent, bearing a message that will shatter Angelica’s peace, and bring about a miracle.
Giornata Opera and Iris Theatre bring Puccini’s bittersweet tragedy to St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden for three nights only. Featuring a cast of young, emerging musical talent and set against the atmospheric interior of the famous Actor’s Church, Suor Angelica is a tale of motherly love, pious devotion and, ultimately, great sacrifice.
